[Music mod] RIMM Reworked

Description
Breathe new life into your submarine with playable instruments, note sheets, cassette tapes, and over 50 unlockable songs.
Forget the boring five second loops of the vanilla instruments, this is real music!

This mod greatly upgrades the vanilla music instruments (and adds some new ones) to play a much wider selection of better music, and it allows you to choose which music to play using a note sheet slot in every instrument. Note sheets can be found while playing. Can you collect all the songs?

Works in multiplayer. Works with the vanilla system of talents.

Main Features
  • A fresh selection of over 50 music tracks
  • Pick which music to play from unlockable note sheets you can find while playing!
  • Crisp and audible music quality thanks to an efficient compression algorithm
  • A runtime loading system ensures the music won't increase your loading times or lag the game at all!
  • New items matching the vanilla artstyle
  • New Cassette Player (Radio), which plays music from cassettes even when dropped on the ground
  • Note sheets for each instrument are distinguishable by colour. Same for each cassette tape.

Available Instruments
  • Harmonica (7 songs)
  • Accordion (14 songs)
  • Guitar (15 songs)
  • Chorus Book (8 songs)
  • Cassette Player (13 songs + 1 extra)

You can purchase or find music and instruments at Cities and Habitation outposts, or loot rare music from wrecks. Each outpost has only a limited selection of music available for purchase.

Add-ons and Music Packs
These are unofficial community addons for RIMM. Thank all of you for making our long hauls in Europa seas even more fun!

MxD's Mountable Cassette Player and Additional Songs
Iterum's Addon - 5+ new cassette songs
Leo's Addon - 15+ new songs for various instruments
Felshaf's Finnish Songs - 9 new cassette tapes with music from Finland

Is your addon not in the list? Feel free to let us know and we'll add it to the list! :)

Thanks
  • Big thanks to the original author of RIMM and everyone they drew inspiration from
  • Thanks to everyone who made addons and music packs for this mod! (see above)
  • Thanks to Snubby for work on the placeable cassette player!

Feedback
I'll try to fix any issues you post about in the comments.
New music requests are welcome.

This is a rework/improvement of the Reworked Instrumental Music Mod which itself is a rework of another mod.

You know... Even though the standard key for placeable electronics is left click, maybe we should make it E for this one... the reason for that is simple : music in one hand, revolver in the other, it's fun going around shooting people to your favourite tunes...

Thank you! That'd be great. That way I don't have to go to a different outpost each time I want to get several cassette players in a run.

Sure! I honestly thought it was already in the mod, but now I remember I only added deconstructing for some reason. I don't remember the logic behind that decision so I'll probably add the crafting recipe in the next update

Will there be an addon/update so you can craft Cassette Players?
mylapqn312  [author] Nov 13, 2023 @ 5:21am
When testing this update I did run across a weird bug where the rewire/detach/open buttons were all messed up, switched around and bound to the wrong keys... not sure what caused it, but I suspect it could happen when you place a cassette player that was made before the update. If anyone faces similar issues, let us know if a newly bought cassette player solved it.

That is indeed how it is supposed to work, and is consistent with other electronics, which detach with a wrench in hand by pressing the use key (E by default), the same as the rewiring function, which is accessed with a screwdriver in hand instead.

Cassette Player being placeable on walls and be wired is a good implement... however, is it normal for the detach button to be similar with the rewire button? Or am I missing a page to properly wire the cassette player in-game?
