There Are Baby Teletubbies Called Tiddlytubbies and the Internet Can’t Deal

Think back to the golden days of your childhood. Life was easy, the days were filled with juice boxes and Goldfish crackers, and there was a calming voice playing constantly in your ear, saying, “Time for Teletubbies! Time for Teletubbies!” Remember that? Of course you do — even if you were “too old” for children’s TV, you still probably tuned in to see WTF was up with those 10-foot-tall alien-esque creatures bounding around a countryside.

Teletubbies were a worldwide phenomenon in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s, a British import that played on PBS to the delight of kiddos (and curious adults) everywhere. Everyone knew about Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, and Po — even your grandma. They sort of faded away after their moment in the spotlight, but it seems that they haven’t totally vanished into their universe of sunshine and vacuum cleaners …because there’s a NEW generation of Teletubbies, and we are shook.

Yes, you read that right. There are baby Teletubbies, and they’re called Tiddlytubbies. One Twitter user told BuzzFeed that she saw a photo of the babies on Facebook and quickly posted it to Twitter, where it has since gone incredibly viral, getting RT’ed over 27,000 times.

We did a little digging and discovered that there are eight Tiddlytubbies in total, including the four “main” ‘Tubbies, Daa-Daa, Umby Pumby, Ba, and Ping. According to their website, they made their debut in 2015 and live with the original Teletubbies in their “own special part” of the Home Dome. It appears that the Teletubbies take care of the little ones, but we’re not entirely sure if the Tiddlytubbies are their actual children or if they’re just babysitting when they’re not making toast or battling pink slime. (Why do we remember so much about this show?)

Regardless of their parentage, the Tiddytubbies have now taken over the Internet, and everyone has (valid) questions and concerns.

The baby ‘Tubbies aren’t the only revelation happening in Teletubby land, either. It seems that now we’re grown up, there’s a lot about the Teletubbies we might have missed in our sandbox days. Talk about a #TBT...a #ThrowbackTubby, if you will. (Sorry.)
