      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

One of Disney's lesser-known animated films, Saludos Amigos may be slight stuff, but it's still a spirited, energetic travelogue.

Nick S It was very well done, a nice, charming, not-too-long time capsule into South America, almost 100 years ago. Recommended for education and for fun. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/26/23 Full Review Daniel F nothing much to say about this movie. it's entirely forgettable, Donald the duck, in my opinion, is a very irritating character and I'm not a fan of mixing Live action with animated, especially in this period of time and one of disney's worst films. there also isn't much of a story. 4.0/10 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/02/23 Full Review Parker E An interesting film showcasing different cultures in South America. This film also had some nice experimental animation which was the highlight for me. Granted I do want to visit South America now. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/31/23 Full Review Dale R An anthology film of hybrid animation and live action shorts. The film itself isn't much to see. The shorts on their own are good but as a package do not really do much to celebrate. The real interesting story is how and why this film was made. Walt Disney was an ambassador to Latin and South America to convince those countries to not support the Nazi cause during World War II. He brought his animators along and they created the shorts that comprised this film and The Three Caballeros. This film is also the first appearance of José Carioca, who they should use more often! If you're curious, check it out. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/01/23 Full Review Jace E An interesting dive into South American cultures, Saludos Amigos was a unique experience. Though lacking any substance to last more than 41 minutes, it was much more entertaining than Fantasia.
