DIRECTIONS:

To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.

  1. Cut a square or rectangle hole through the box lid. Paint the lid and base with green acrylic paint. Glue a gold glitter foam sheet to the top of the lid. Trim glitter foam sheet to the lid edge and recut the hole opening from the underside. Add ribbon and embellishments to decorate.
  2. Glue or spray mount a green glitter foam sheet to cardboard and trim using the foam sheet edge as a guide. Paint the wood picket fence gold and glue to the edge of the "land." Download and print the "FREE GOLD" sign, glue to cardboard, trim, decorate, and mount to the fence. We added a 12" rainbow painted on upcycled cardboard as a backdrop. Add a rainbow ribbon as a "walkway."
  3. Paint craft sticks and glue them together to make a ladder. Decorate a dixie cup or small container and add a chenille stem "handle" to make your "pot." Paint the wood disks with metallic gold acrylic paint, let the paint dry thoroughly, for extra sparkle, add glitter flakes using glitter glue.
  4. Assemble scene adding artificial moss over the hole cut into the box lid. Add seasonal decorations—this sample uses sequin appliques shamrocks.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Hot glue gun/glue gun sticks can help glue some materials together if an adult crafter assists.
  • Adults can use an X-Acto knife to cut more complex shapes.
