Isla Fisher

Film: Confessions Of A Shopaholic

With the sound of flexing plastic and ringing tills in the background, Isla Fisher stars as Rebecca Bloomwood, the ultimate shopaholic whose spending obsession has now left her severely in the red. Determined to be debt-free, Rebecca sets her sights on a dream job at Alette - the biggest fashion magazine in NYC - but ends up (ironically) bagging a position at financial journal Successful Saving instead. With the debt collectors on her tail, her shopping addiction spiralling out of control, and a crush on her boss brewing, can things get any worse for our fashion-loving heroine?

Alongside a grade A supporting cast - including Joan Cusack, John Goodman and Kristen Scott Thomas - and with the dashing Hugh Dancy providing the obligatory chick-flick eye candy, Isla Fisher holds her own in the leading lady spot. She's no Cameron Diaz yet but she definitely pulls in a few laughs - although the gaffs can seem a bit predictable and formulaic at times. Fans of the book series might also be surprised to find a few plot changes along the way, but while it's certainly no Devil Wears Prada, this light-hearted rom com is the perfect antidote to all those Oscar tearjerkers. The best bit? SATC fashion maestro Patricia Field has worked her magic on the wardrobe - we're talking Gucci, Burberry with a ton of lust-worthy vintage thrown in!
