First LG phone with Dolby surround sound

It is the first multimedia phone for the global market to use Dolby Mobile from Dolby Laboratories to deliver surround sound for video and music content.

"Following extensive research, LG found consumers' needs were not being met with the current offering of mobile interfaces," said Nathan Dunn, general manager Mobile Communications, LG Electronics Australia.

"By addressing the need for a simple, fast and fun way to engage with multimedia on ARENA, we have ensured ARENA offers stylish design with smart technology that will fit consumers' lives."

The phone features touch-based 3D menus, reel Scrolling, five megapixel camera, Elastic Lists, which make it easier to browse through contacts and other catalogued information, Tactile Analogue Alarm Clock and Radio Tuner.

It can handle music and movie files with 8GB of internal memory and 16GB of external memory.

The battery provides up to 30 hours of MP3 playtime and 300 hours of standby time.

Its audio, video and photos can be shared on social networking sites on 3G HSDPA 7.2 networks and Wi-Fi.

The phone also supports Google Mobile Service which includes Google search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube and Google Blogs.

A-GPS and geo-tagging are also possible.

The LG Arena is available from Vodafone stores for $0 upfront on either the $69 or $79 per month Internet Cap (on a 24 month contract) or can be purchased outright for RRP: $799.
