England football legend Paul Gascoigne will appear at a meet and greet in Coventry this week. Mr Gascoigne, affectionately known as Gazza by his legion of fans, will trawl back through one of the most eventful careers in English football.

The 55-year-old, who continues to command newspaper headlines to this day, will take a trip down memory lane at An Evening with 'Gazza' Paul Gascoigne at Rialto Plaza in Coundon on Thursday (March 30). 'Join us for an evening of untold stories and hilarious tales from one of the country's most colourful, well-loved football icons!' an advert to the show says.

Gazza, who appeared at the same venue in 2019, made 57 appearances for England and also enjoyed a glittering club career as a player with Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Lazio and Rangers, among others. He scored one of the finest goals in FA Cup history to defeat Tottenham's bitter rivals Arsenal in a famous 1991 semi-final at Wembley.

But Gazza is arguably best known for his brilliant Euro 96 volley against Scotland and for the tears he wept in England's epic 1990 World Cup defeat to Germany. The mercurial midfielder picked up a second yellow card late in the semi-final match which would have ruled him out of the final.

The Rialto Plaza show will be hosted by comedian and entertainer Jed Stone. The ticket page on eventbrite says: "A cult hero in English football, Gascoigne is widely recognised as the most naturally talented English footballer of his generation.

"Having joined us for a sold-out evening in 2019, 4 years later the footballing legend returns to the Rialto! His career was filled with highs, lows and controversy.

"We’ll hear all about Gazza’s amazing career, word for word, no stone left unturned, straight from the horse’s mouth. From his early days under Jack Charlton at his boyhood club Newcastle, winning the FA Cup with Spurs, tears at Italia ’90 and that goal (and iconic celebration) at Euro ’96. You DO NOT want to miss this event."

The evening will include an audience Q&A and, for those with premium tickets, a photo opportunity and even a signed shirt. Click here for tickets and more information.
