Life is good at Diane Lane’s house.

For one thing, husband Josh Brolin is on the hot list for his performance in the hit “No Country for Old Men.”

“Ah yes, 24 years in the making. I know a little about that,” the Oscar-nominated actress said with a smile.

And Lane’s new movie, “Untraceable,” in which she plays an FBI agent, opens Friday. She did her research before playing the specialist in Internet crime, and was surprised by what she found.

“I liked the fact that her job exists and she is real. She’s a working woman,” Lane said of her character, Jennifer Marsh, a widow with a young daughter. “The job’s pretty harrowing, as you can imagine, but the preparation was really fun.”

That included firearms training where she discovered, “It’s a thrill firing off large ammunitions. But I found out I’m not a very good shot.”

The twist to “Untraceable” is a psycho who streams live video of kidnap victims who die on camera.

“The need for angels online to intervene with the bad guys online is sad,” Lane allowed.

She and Brolin have been together for six years, and married for three and a half. Has “newfound” success changed anything?

“Nothing changes. It sure feels great (because) it’s a crapshoot,” said Lane. “Who knows when you are going to be in a classic film? Who knows if you are going to be in a financially successful film? Who knows if you are going to be in a cult hit? Who knows if you are going to be in something that nobody will remember?

“There is an element of gratitude that goes with something fortuitous. That is good to have in the house. It’s nice. What is good for the goose is good for the gander, they say. I agree.”
