Bleach: Top 3 Bankai Yet to Be Revealed

If you’ve kept up with the Bleach anime, you’ll notice that most characters have unveiled their Bankai. However, some fan-favorite characters still haven’t revealed their ultimate form yet.

In the Bleach universe, a Bankai is considered the final and most powerful form of a Zanpakuto, following the initial Shikai form.

Attaining a Bankai is a significant milestone for a Soul Reaper, representing one of the highest levels of power.

The importance of a Bankai is underscored by the fact that only those who have mastered this level of power are eligible for promotion to the rank of Captain within the 13 Court Guard Squads.

Among the notable characters who haven’t yet revealed their Bankai are Kisuke Urahara, Kenpachi Zaraki, and Shunsui Kyoraku

In this article, we will delve into the Bankai abilities of these three characters that are set to be revealed in the final part of Bleach Thousand Years Blood War arc.

1- Kisuke Urahara’s Bankai

Kisuke Urahara

Kisuke Urahara, seemingly just a humble candy shop owner, conceals the fact that he was one of the 13 captains of the court guard squads and wields one of the most potent Bankai in Bleach. His true powers were not revealed until the very end.

In Chapter 664, 23 chapters before the end of Bleach, Urahara unleashed his Bankai for the first time in the entire series during a battle with a Sternritter named Askin.

Urahara’s Bankai is called Kannonbiraki Benihime Aratame, a sinister-looking Bankai whose abilities seem to resemble that of a surgeon.

Upon his first time activating the Bankai, the chapter introduced a colossal, woman-like entity that appeared puppet-like, with mannequin-like arms adorned with markings on her joints.

In the first attack, Urahara cuts open Askin’s arm, similar to how a surgeon dissects a patient.

The main ability of this Bankai is to restructure anything it touches by slicing open the area and stitching it back according to its will.

One main reason why Urahara’s Bankai is called broken is because it can be used both offensively and defensively.

He can restructure his own body to make it stronger and give it an optimum state, while restructuring the opponent’s body to make it weaker.

He can also heal himself using his Bankai simply by restructuring the wound, similar to what a surgeon does to a patient.

However, there are some weaknesses to this Bankai as well, including how it works only in a limited range and the restructuring of the body only remains till the Bankai is active and goes back to the original state afterward.

This drawback could pose great danger if Urahara restructured his wounds, which would result in the wounds opening back up.

2- Kenpachi Zaraki’s Bankai

kenpachi

Kenpachi Zaraki’s Bankai was revealed for the first time in chapter 669 in his battle against a Sternritter called Gerard Valkyrie.

Kenpachi, the only captain who had not previously released his Shikai or Bankai, discovered his Zanpakuto’s name, Nozarashi, during his training with Captain Unohana.

Their battle helped Kenpachi remove the restrictions he had put on himself in order to fight lower-skilled opponents, eventually helping him unleash his full potential.

In Chapter 668, during Kenpachi’s battle with Sternritter Gerard, his Zanpakuto, Nozo Rashi, manifested in a physical form. It appeared before him, taking on the representation of his former lieutenant, Yachiru.

Lieutenant said that if Kenpachi wields his Zanpakuto right, he can cut anything. Then, she touched his hand, and it seemed to release powerful energy, showing him that this power is called Bankai.

It was thanks to Nozo Rashi that Kenpachi was able to unlock his Bankai.

When he unleashed this spiritual energy, it caused nearby buildings to be flattened. As a result, Kenpachi’s skin turned red, and his body became covered in markings and horns, resembling an Oni or demon.

His blade also transformed into a new version of his Shikai, a shorter version.

Gerard was clearly disappointed with Kenpachi’s Bankai, thinking that it appeared broken and couldn’t possibly be a true Bankai. Nevertheless, before Gerard could make any moves, Kenpachi swiftly severed his right arm.

Kenpachi’s Bankai provided him with a boost in physical strength and cutting power. When Gerard attempted a counterattack, Kenpachi easily sliced him in two.

It was evident that Kenpachi’s Bankai was still in a raw and unpolished state, and he struggled to control its immense power.

Kenpachi continued to press the attack, even after Gerard revealed his holy form. However, during the battle, Kenpachi’s right arm suddenly burst open, and Nozo Rashi emerged, offering an apology for potentially unleashing too much power for Kenpachi’s body to handle.

This was all that was showcased regarding Kenpachi’s Bankai as he returned to his original state after that.

Even though it was for a short time, Zaraki’s Bankai was enough to completely overwhelm Gerard and the amount of power it possessed that even Zaraki was not able to handle.

Shunsui Kyōraku, former captain of the 8th division of the 13-court guard squad, was made the head captain after Yamamoto’s demise. Shunsui Kyōraku first revealed his Bankai in chapter 647.

Shunsui Kyōraku Bankai is activated when he holds both of his Shikai in front of him with the blades pointing downwards. His Bankai is called Katen Kyōkutsu Karamatsu Shinjuu.

It’s a very powerful and dangerous Bankai, which affects the area around him as well, changing the perception of reality of the people inside of it.

The Bankai has four stages, each from a different play or story from Japanese culture.

The first stage is called Bushogama. This creates a black wind that ends up hurting anyone trying to move inside it.

The second stage is called Zanki No Shitone. This stage makes Shunsui’s wounds appear on his opponent, ultimately making them feel the same pain and damage that is inflicted on himself.

The third stage is called Dango No Fuchi. In this stage, Shunsui creates an illusion of a deep and dark abyss where he and his opponent fall endlessly, and the one to fall first will end up dead.

The fourth stage is known as Itokiribasami Chizome No Nodobue. In this final stage, Shunsui summons a giant pair of scissors that has the ability to cut the threads of the life of his opponent, playing a flute afterwards that signals the end of the act and the death of his opponent.

As overpowered as it seems, It can be dangerous considering the fact that it can affect the people nearby and is taxing on Shunsui himself as well.

These Bankai are anticipated to be revealed in the upcoming season of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War (TYBW). Each of them possesses incredible strength to the extent that they cannot be employed in ordinary circumstances.

From restructuring anything to cutting anything, these Bankai are undeniably more potent compared to others. What do you think is the most is the most powerful Bankai among these three?

Bleach TYBW arc part 3 is set to release in 2024, but the exact release date is yet to be announced.
