Czech Republic and Portugal meet in the first of the Euro 2012 quarter-finals, as both sides look to build on victories in their last games and head towards the semi-finals.

Czech Republic have come back from an opening day defeat to Russia in solid fashion, beating both Greece and Poland to make the last eight of the tournament. Michal Bilek’s men are on a roll and actually topped Group A, and as such now must be respected. The nation have a number of slightly unknown heroes in the form of Vaclav Pilar and Petr Jiracek, who have been getting the team’s goals, with leading European club sides sure to have been keeping an eye on the duo. Talisman Tomas Rosicky will have a late fitness test to gauge whether he can feature in the game, with the Czech hopeful their playmaker can be included. Bwin have Czech Republic as outsiders at odds of 5.25.

Portugal also came back from an opening day defeat, this time to Germany, to win their remaining two pool games. A 3-2 victory over Denmark was followed up by a 2-1 win over Netherlands to secure second place in Group B. Cristiano Ronaldo had a mediocre effect on the first two games, but showed his quality in the last game to score two goals; Paulo Bento’s men will hope their skipper can lead them to victory once more. Portugal are favourites with Bwin, who have them at odds of 1.70 to win in normal time.

This will be a close game, with both sides eager not to concede early. My Euro 2012 football betting tip is a 2-0 win to Portugal, which Bwin have at odd of 7.25.
