Should I keep blogging?

Hellooooo lovely hoomans!

So once again, I just wanted to say I know I’ve been a bit sketchy with my blog posting. I am very much alive and well, things have just been really busy lately. I also haven’t felt very inspired to blog for a while – I’m not sure if maybe it’s because in my mind I don’t have anything to say, or no topics are inspiring me, but the creative juices for Tall Blonde Tales just haven’t been flowing which has stopped me from posting. Afterall, I really want to stick with my little unwritten rule that I’m not going to blog just for the sake of blogging – if it feels this forced, then it’s not going to be a blog I feel happy with posting, and it’s not fair in my mind to ask you to read something I didn’t feel I should have posted in the first place.

Because of all my lacking in blogging inspiration and motivation, it has made me wonder if it’s worth keeping this blog going. I know that I’ve not been the best with responding to comments (mild understatement but I’m trying to say positive here) and with things being so busy at different times has made blogging that bit harder. So maybe, after over 3 years of blogging, it might be time to say the sun has set on this little project of mine?

However, even though part of me thinks that it might be time to stop blogging, I do love this blog and the idea of shutting it down makes me sad in more than just the quintessential ‘it’s coming to an end’ way. Soooooo part of me is thinking I might just keep it going for a little bit longer, until I finish university, as I only have one more year left until I finish my undergraduate course.

One idea I had is while I’m keeping it going for this last year, I might actually focus it just around university advice and fun anecdotes, as opposed to sometimes slipping into the more general life tips, advice and fun stories. A while ago I cooked up a little dream that I would one day love to publish a guide/advice book about university – I know it’s cliched but I thought it would be a really fun way of wrapping up my blogging career, as well as sharing all the knowledge (and just fun, bizarre stories and situations I’ve gone through) and gathered during my uni years and gap year. Plus, I just think it would be such a fun project to actually put together and see if I can write a whole uni guide book, even if it’s something that doesn’t really see the light of day, beyond me sharing the base of all the chapters in blog posts here.

What do you all think about that?? Would this be a fun ‘last year’ of the blog you’d be happy to follow and read along?

Anywhoo, I know that this blog was mostly my thought rambling onto the page, but considering I hadn’t blogged for a while and this is a pretty big thing I’m considering, I thought it was only right I share my thought process with you all as you have been the ones supporting my blog this whole time.

Thank you all so much for reading – I’m really looking forward to hearing your thoughts in the comments section. I may be slow to respond to comments in particular over the next two weeks as I’m about to start working at a summer camp so I will have very little free time, but who knows maybe after hearing your thoughts and going through these next two weeks some new inspiration will take hold of me.

Anyway, that’s enough of my rambling. I will try and blog soon, even if it’s just a fun little catch-up or life update post, but until then, stay sparkly everyone!

Lots of Love

  1. My vote: don’t worry about it so much. Write when you feel like you have something to write, even if it’s months in between, and we’ll still be here for you when you’re ready to have something to share. If you do shut down, I would like to stay in touch somehow, since I always enjoy what you write, and I really appreciate you sharing my writing last year at Christmas. And your university advice would be a great idea.

  2. What id say is it’s completely up to you! Maybe don’t give yourself a set schedule, but just post about things related to uni and stories that you’d like to post! Whatever your choice, I’m sure it will be the best for you! ☺️

  3. I’m sorry to hear you are thinking of shutting your blog down, but I do understand what you’re saying. It’s not an easy thing to do. I do hope you continue. Maybe you’ll feel in a better place to blog when you are done with uni. But whatever you decide, I want you to know that I have really enjoyed your blog!

  4. I fully support your decision to take a hiatus from blogging to focus on other important life endeavors. University and other exciting opportunities come before blogging. We’ll be here if you decide to return to blogging in the future.
