Pendet Dance, Traditional From Bali
Another interesting traditional art from Indonesia, namely Pendet dance. Pendet Dance is one of the welcome dances or typical Balinese dances from Bali Island, Indonesia. This dance is one of Balinese traditional dances that is very famous and often displayed various events such as welcoming big guests and other cultural events. Pendet dance is usually played by the female dancers with a bowl containing a variety of flowers that became his trademark.
The Origin of Pendet Dance
Pendet Dance was originally a traditional dance that became part of the piodalan ceremony at Pura or the family sanctuary. As an expression of gratitude and respect from the Balinese people in welcoming the presence of the gods who descend from heaven. This dance has become an integral part of the spiritual life of the people there.
Starting from there, one of Bali artist named I Wayan Rindi was inspired and turned the dance into a welcome dance. With the help of Ni Ketut Reneng, they created Pendet Dance as a welcome dance with four dancers. Then the dance was developed and refined by I Wayang Baratha by adding the number of dancers to five people, as is often shown now. In the show, Pendet Dance is played by the female dancers who each carry a bowl containing various flowers as a dancing property. At the end of the show, the dancers sprinkle the flowers they bring towards the audience and the guests as a welcome greeting. The dancer dances with a dynamic movement in accordance with the rhythm of his musical accompaniment. Music accompaniment in this Pendet Dance is Balinese Gamelan music such as gangsa, kenyur, tungguh, kendang and others.

At the head, the hair is tied with a pusung gonjer then inlaid with jepun flowers, frangipani flowers, roses and jempaka.
