Newlywed Frances Bean Cobain sells San Diego home for $2.4M

Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love’s daughter has offloaded her California compound for $2.4 million.

The freshly married Frances Bean Cobain, 31, has successfully sold her home of two years in San Diego’s Point Loma neighborhood.

Cobain, who is the only child of the late Nirvana frontman and the 59-year-old Hole founder, bought the abode back in 2021 for $2.3 million, meaning she turned a small profit in the transaction, which was first reported by Realtor.com.

The sale is not a sign that Cobain is looking to go far, though, as property records reveal she recently spent some $2.3 million acquiring a slightly smaller address in the coastal San Diego County city of Oceanside, according to Robb Report

It all comes as the child of rock and roll royal recently tied the knot with the progeny of another 1990s icon. On Oct. 7, Cobain and Riley Hawk, son of pro-skater Tony Hawk, wed in Los Angeles, in a ceremony officiated by none other than R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe, who just so happens to be Cobain’s godfather, Page Six reported this month.

The three-bedroom Point Loma property offers over 1,800 square feet of living space spread across a single story in the coastal nabe, which is conveniently close to the beach.

Listing photos of the residence show a relatively humble, gated address with a wood-beamed kitchen and a dining nook open to the fireplace-equipped living room and a spacious backyard.

“The recently renovated kitchen brings an urban element to this eclectic beach bungalow including all new custom cabinetry, bold surfaces and elegant appliances,” boasts the former listing.

Two of the three bathrooms were also recently renovated, according to Realtor.com.

Outside, there’s a patio, a pool, a fire pit and a two-story tiny home-like playhouse — as well as a detached garage.

Meanwhile, her new digs in Oceanside may have somewhat less square footage but it does offer two more bedrooms, a hot tub and numerous green energy accommodations — including a reverse osmosis water system, native landscaping and EV charging stations.
