Qufu City in Shandong Province, renowned as the hometown of Chinese philosopher Confucius, contains numerous historic palaces, temples, and cemeteries. Among them, the three most famous cultural sites in the city - the Temple of Confucius, the Cemetery of Confucius, and the Family Mansion of Confucius - were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. In addition, various themed cultural events are held there every year to commemorate the sage.
