LESSON PLAN WITH SCREENSHOTS:
The teacher introduces today's Science lesson on what the world is made is made up of and where we are in relation to the world. The interactive whiteboard is used as a projector for the children to copy what the teacher is doing, while they themselves complete the task on the ipads given to them. The teacher explains the home screen and encourages the children to ask their parents to download this program so they can use it at home as well as school, to help with homework and assignments.

The teacher asks the children to look up a map of Australia and to locate where they are in conjunction with the map. A class discussion arises about how Australia is just one of many countries that make up planet Earth.
The class discuss about the foundation that Australia is on, and researchers the name of the tetonic plates that Australia sits on.

The teacher then asks all students to research and investigate into what makes up our planet. Children begin to see diagrams of Earth in 3D and are encouraged to watch the interactive videos on Earth.
After the activity is complete, the children are asked to research the makings of another planet in the solar system when they go home. This is the basis for one of their assignments.
Through investigation on Encarta Kids, children are inspired to learn more about science topics. They are not only learning about different topics, but also acquiring the language knowledge of different parts of science.
