K-Pop Artists Who Deserve to Have a Comeback Soon

There are some artists who are very consistent in delivering music to their fans, but then there are others who appear once in a blue moon, blow everyone away with their talent and then disappear, leaving a drought in their wake. Here are six artists we really want to hear new music from!

This is an unranked list based on the opinion of the writer.

DEAN

We know that he knows that we need an album. Fans have literally been begging for an album since forever from the R&B singer-songwriter DEAN. The R&B heartthrob’s last album, 130 mood: TRBL, was released in 2016. In 2017, DEAN released his signature song “Instagram”. He has also released several collaborations with other artists since then, including IU, Crush, and Sulli, to name a few. But has been a minute since we have gotten DEAN as the lead artist on a song. He has continued to tease the comeback, so we should just keep our fingers crossed.

Ten (NCT)

Ten of NCT is another of those artists who appears once in a blue moon, blows everyone out of the water, and then disappears. So far, he has done this three times in his career: 2017’s “夢中夢 (몽중몽); Dream In A Dream” then in 2018’s “New Heroes” and then there was a long gap till we got 2021’s “Paint Me Naked.” Despite only being SM Station singles, each of the songs has performed extremely well. All three tracks are in the Top 20 most popular NCT-related songs on Genius. It is only deserving that Ten receives a mini-album at this point.

FAVORITE

The girl group FAVORITE released one of the most popular sleeper hits of 2019. Their track “LOCA” gained popularity on Twitter from word-of-mouth. And while the song didn’t chart high, their music video and stage performances on music shows gained attention for their choreography. The music video was directed by Zanybros. The group released the song “LIE” in 2020 in the same vein. But since, then, we haven’t heard from the group, which is a disappointment considering how talented and full of potential the group is.

Kai & Sehun (EXO)

Kai has kept his fans fed with one album at the end of the year for two years now. However, we would like the EXO member to release music before Christmas this year, so his songs aren’t lost in the end-of-year shuffle. Kai has established himself as a successful soloist in the sensual R&B genre and with songs like “Mmmh,” “Peaches,” “Ride or Die,” and “Vanilla” under his belt, it would be amazing to hear some dance-pop heavy tracks from the singer. We would also not mind if SM finally gives Sehun a damn solo song. The EXO member is one of the few senior artists under the company to never receive an SM Station song. EXO-SC’s discography, including the solo B-side “On Me”, is proof that he has the penmanship and charisma to pull off a solo debut. Give my man a chance already!

EVERGLOW

When the world needed them the most, they disappeared. Compared to their peers, the gap between EVERGLOW comebacks is fairly long. The group’s last release was in December of 2021 with the song “Pirate.” EVERGLOW has one of the most immaculate discographies among fourth-generation K-Pop groups. From their sleeper hit of a debut with “Bon Bon Chocolat” to the electropop anthem “LA DI DA” which was hailed as the best K-Pop song of 2020 by Billboard Staff. It’s high time EVERGLOW announced a comeback. We are all eagerly waiting because anything the girl group delivers will be exquisite.
