Sri Mulyani Indrawati is an Indonesian economist currently serving her second term as Minister of Finance for Indonesia in President Jokowi’s administration. Sri Mulyani was awarded her B.A. in Economics from the University of Indonesia in 1986. Then, she received her M.S. and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1992.

Sri Mulyani's International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) experience served as a stepping stone into her role with the Indonesian government. In 1999, she was a respected professor and research associate for the Institution for Economic and Social Research (LPEM) at Indonesia’s top-ranked university, the University of Indonesia. During her IVLP that year, she participated in a working lunch at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which eventually led to her appointment as an executive director at IMF in 2002. As a result of her performance at the IMF, she was asked to become the Minister of Finance in 2005.

Since becoming Minister of Finance, she has focused on tackling corruption and increasing investment. During her tenure, the country’s foreign exchange reserves reached an all-time high and the country has experienced a dramatic reduction in public debt. She was named the “Finance Minister of the Year” by Euromoney Magazine in 2006, and received the “Best Minister Award” at the sixth annual World Government Summit in 2018. In June 2010, Sri Mulyani joined the World Bank as the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Bank’s operations around the world. While at the World Bank, she represented the Bank at the G20, and was chair of the International Development Association (IDA) and Advisory Council on Gender and Development.

As Indonesia's Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati has used her expertise and worldwide connections to strengthen the Indonesian economy.
