Bahasa Indonesia: Seni pertunjukan reog Ponorogo, merupakan salah satu tradisi masyarakat Ponorogo yang masih hidup dan bertujuan mempererat tali silaturahmi masyarakat Ponorogo.
Kesenian yang mulanya bernama “Barongan” ini, dibawa oleh Ki Ageng Suryongalam yang berasal dari Bali. Maka, tidak mengherankan jika kesenian reog mirip dengan kesenian barong di Bali. Pementasan reog mulai muncul sejak tahun 1920 hingga saat ini. Namun, pada zaman pemerintah kolonial Belanda dan Penjajahan Jepang, reog dianggap sebagai kesenian yang merugikan hingga dilarang karena dianggap dapat memobilisasi massa. Eksistensinya yang mengandung nilai-nilai historis, filosofis, religious, kreatif, dan edukatif menjadikan reog sebagai hiburan rakyat yang lagendaris. |
