The Earth is our habitat and home, and it’s our time to serve our home as it has served us and is continuing to serve us from billions of years ago till now and moving forward too. The earth’s health is deteriorating with garbage everywhere, natural resources dying. What will happen to our dear Earth? I believe that small acts of love and care will help save the Earth.
Here are some things we can do to save our only home:
- Use the triple R: Reuse, reduce and recycle
- Save electricity and power
- Conserve water
- Shop wisely
- Do not waste food
- Plant a tree
- Stop Polluting
- Stop Global Warming
Coal, natural gas, kerosene, petrol and wood use should be limited as the resource is natural and cannot be produced in mass.
Hydropower energy, which means the energy procured from running water and/or solar energy should be used instead of burning fuels like coal or wood.
Electricity should always be used with caution to not use excessive power. Simple things like switching off electric gadgets and machines when not in use, and clearing cloud data contributes.
Water:
Water makes up around 76% of the Earth and it helps us in countless ways to live. 99% of the world’s water is salty water, which is not fit or usage. And the only 1% of fresh water is getting polluted or wasted. So how to save water?
Be aware and spread awareness.
Close the taps while brushing teeth.
Take quick showers.
Fix any leaky taps at home.
Use one utensil for drinking water.
Don’t fill up a water cup to the brim and waste it.
Don’t pour excess drinking water in the sink
Wash fruits and vegetables in a bowl of fresh water
Limited shopping:
Making things requires resources and buying products that you don’t require, means wasting resources. Anything we totally waste is a loss for us.
Stop wasting food:
Imagine the many number of people who don’t have food, and when we waste it, it is like stealing the food from their table, says Pope Francis.
And throwing away some kinds of foods are also harmful to the environment as it may release harmful gasses and chemicals when the degrade.
Plant trees:
Planting trees is important as trees play an important role in helping us adapt to the impacts of climate change. Plants help in the cooling of earth by removing carbon dioxide from the air and store it within their roots. They regulate water cycle, reduce soil erosion and the risk of landslides, floods and drought. Plants also help purify the air, provide habitats and maintain genetic diversity of the species.
Stop Polluting:
Pollution is harmful. Pollutants can be natural, such as volcanic ash. They can also be created by human activity, such as trash or runoff produced by factories. Pollutants damage the quality of air, water, and land.
There are different types of pollution like air pollution, water pollution, sound pollution and land pollution.
Stop Global Warming:
Global warming is the long-term heating of Earth’s climate system due to human activities, mostly fossil fuel burning, which increases heat-trapping greenhouse gas levels in Earth’s atmosphere.
The effects of global warming are:
The causes of global warming are:
What can we do to prevent global warming?
Save energy at home, walk/cycle or take public transport, eat more vegetables.
Let’s all do this and take care of our planet better!
